LAGOS, NIGERIANigeria's proposed national airline Nigeria Air will begin operations with three wet-leased aircraft.

The new flag carrier of the African state is expected to take the skies in April 2022 after a failed attempt in 2018.

Capt. Tilmann Gabriel, the Transaction Adviser on national Carrier, leasing the aircraft is the easiest and cost-effective way to start an airline today due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Gabriel, leasing companies have aircraft and crew idle and Nigeria Air has the opportunity to get a good bargain.

Nigeria Air will start its operations on domestic routes before regional and long-haul routes.
