HONG KONG — Cathay Group today laid out its ambitious blueprint to further modernize its fleet by acquiring up to 32 Airbus A321neo and A320neo aircraft. This planned expansion is in line with the company's strategy to enhance the flight connectivity of the Hong Kong international aviation hub. The move is expected to elevate the Group's new aircraft tally to over 70.

Scheduled for delivery by 2029, these state-of-the-art aircraft are poised to amplify the operations of both Cathay Pacific and HK Express. Their primary focus? Strengthening connections across Chinese Mainland and other key Asian destinations.

The Group's CEO, Ronald Lam, expressed the company's unwavering commitment to the sustained growth of the Hong Kong international aviation hub, particularly spotlighting the potential of the upcoming Three-Runway System. Lam stated, "Our investment in these aircraft underscores our dedication to cementing our position in the region and enhancing our network across the Chinese Mainland."

Furthermore, the commitment of the Cathay Group goes beyond mere expansions. Lam emphasized the Group's vision of standing tall among the world's leading service brands, which translates to their persistent focus on enhancing customer journeys. "The chosen aircraft, equipped with the latest technology, promise our patrons quieter, more comfortable, and fuel-efficient travels," Lam added.

In retrospect, Cathay's relationship with Airbus A321neos isn't new. From an order placed in 2017, the Group has already integrated 13 A321neos. The current announcement signals the potential addition of another 32 of these state-of-the-art, single-aisle Airbus planes to their dynamic fleet.
