ATLANTA, GEORGIA — Delta Air Lines announced that it will make the commercial debut of its first Airbus A321neo next month. The aircraft will make its first flight on May 22, 2022, between Boston and San Fransisco. Delta will deploy its A321neo on additional routes in the coming months, including Denver, San Diego, and Seattle.

While flights to Seattle will begin operating on Aug 11, services to San Diego and Denver will be launched from Aug 20.

Delta has 154 A321neo jets in its orderbook waiting to be delivered. Delta took delivery of its A321neo jet on March 23 at the Hamburg plant of the European planemaker. The US carrier will add 25 further aircraft of the same type by the end of this year.  The remaining units will arrive from 2024 through 2027.

Delta's A321neos will accommodate 194 passengers in total, 20 in First Class, 42 in Delta Comfort+, and 132 in the Economy Cabin.

Delta Air Lines will conduct around 155 daily nonstop flights to 53 destinations during the summer season this year, a more than 20% increase in capacity since the airline's pre-pandemic peak in October 2019.
