DENVER, COLORADO — On Thursday, Delta Airlines flight 760 from Salt Lake City to Washington was forced to divert to Denver International Airport for an emergency landing after the cockpit windshield shattered above 30,000 feet.

A photo of the windshield taken by a passenger shows that it was completely shattered. Commercial airline windshields are around two inches thick, with several layered panes of glass.

In a statement sent to the media, a Delta spokesperson confirmed the incident as a maintenance issue but did not add whether the cabin lost pressure at any time during the flight.
