FRANKFURT, GERMANY — CityJet, a prominent Irish wet-lease operator, has announced the addition of its first Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft to its existing fleet of 21 CRJ900s to meet the rising demand for the upcoming summer season.

On March 28, the first of five aircraft was delivered to CityJet, making its journey from Ljubljana to Copenhagen. The company has confirmed that the aircraft bears the registration EI-HIC. This detail reveals that the airframe was initially delivered to the esteemed French regional carrier, Brit Air, in 2011.

At the time, Air France was the parent company of CityJet. However, they chose not to incorporate CityJet into their consolidation of regional operations under the Hop brand.

CityJet maintains a firm stance that the CRJ1000 will significantly bolster their thriving wet-lease business. The aircraft will be dedicated to operations on behalf of the Lufthansa Group. CityJet already contributes to the capacity of the Scandinavian operator, SAS.
