BAKU, AZERBAIJAN — Azerbaijan Airlines, the national flag carrier of the country, has placed a firm order for 12 A320neo Family aircraft, including A320neo and A321neo models, as part of the airline's fleet renewal strategy. 

The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Baku, Azerbaijan. The airline aims to operate the most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft, enhancing operational efficiency, competitiveness, and passenger comfort.

The engine selection for the new aircraft will be announced later by the airline. Samir Rzayev, First Vice-President of AZAL CJSC, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation with Airbus and the airline's commitment to strengthen bilateral ties.

Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, highlighted the importance of this order in the relationship between Airbus and Azerbaijan Airlines. The A320neo Family, with its fuel efficiency and cost-effective solutions, remains a popular choice for airlines worldwide.

Azerbaijan Airlines currently operates a fleet of 15 Airbus aircraft, including 4 A319ceo, 6 A320ceo, 2 A340s, and 3 A320neo models. The airline plans to use the A320neo Family aircraft to expand its domestic and international route network.

The A320neo Family incorporates advanced technologies such as new-generation engines and Sharklets, resulting in at least a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. With around 8,700 orders from 135 customers, the A320neo Family jets is the best-selling airliners of the European aircraft manufacturer.
