MIAMI, FLORIDA — In 2022, Miami International Airport (MIA) broke its previous record by accommodating over 50.6 million passengers, an increase of nearly 10% from 45.9 million in 2019 and half a million more than Orlando International Airport's 50.1 million travelers in the same year.

MIA saw a record-breaking 29.3 million domestic passengers in 2022, up from 23.5 million in 2019, and catered to 21.3 million international travelers, which was one million fewer than in 2019 but 8.3 million more than in 2021.

The airport experienced a significant 35% year-over-year growth by serving 13.3 million additional passengers compared to 37.3 million in 2021 when the aviation sector was still rebounding from the pandemic. Furthermore, MIA maintained its freight handling record of 2.7 million tons from 2021, with 2.2 million tons of international cargo and 500,000 tons of domestic shipments in 2022.
