LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — An American Airlines aircraft and a passenger shuttle bus collided at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday night, resulting in at least five people sustaining injuries.

According to airport officials, the crash took place on the southern side of the airport as the plane was being moved from a gate to a parking area on a taxiway.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Airbus A321 aircraft from American had no passengers on board, but there were people in the shuttle bus. During the incident, five individuals required medical attention and were attended to by paramedics. Out of these five individuals, four were transported to hospitals located nearby.

“A jet being towed tonight from a gate to a parking area made contact with a shuttle bus, resulting in injuries to about 5 people,” LAX Tweeted.

“We thank our partners @LAFD for quickly responding and treating passengers from the bus. Other LAX operations remain normal.”

Officials investigate the cause of the collision.
