BUCHAREST, ROMANIA — Hungarian budget carrier Wizz Air will cease its operations from Chisinau, Moldova, for an indefinite period due to the security concerns on Moldovan airspace caused by Russia's long-range missile attacks on Ukraine.

With this decision, the airline will close its base at Chisinau International airport and will no longer continue its flights from/to Moldovian airport. Wizz Air will re-route those flights to Romania's Iasi and Bacau airports.

Wizz Air has increased its services from Romania after Romanian low-cost operator Blue Air ended its operations on September 6.

The decision comes after Russian missiles crossed Moldovan airspace last month, and the Moldovian authorities started to discuss closing the country's airspace to civilian flights again.
