NEWCASTLE, UK — Irish low-cost specialist Ryanair announced the opening of its new base at Newcastle, with two based aircraft, representing an investment of $200m and 60 new direct jobs.

The airline will fly to 19 destinations from the British Airport, of which ten are new summer routes, including Gran Canaria, Ibiza, and Paphos.

Ryanair will operate over 130 weekly flights for Summer 2022, 40 more than pre-pandemic Summer 2019, to offer its passengers choices to top European destinations in Italy, Spain, and England whilst also giving UK tourism a much-needed boost after two lost summers.


Ryanair’s Newcastle Summer 22 schedule will deliver:


· 2 based aircraft – $200m investment

· 19 total routes, 130 weekly flights

· 10 new routes to Chania, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Krakow, Menorca, Milan, Paphos, Riga, and Zadar

· 60 direct jobs
