SEATTLE, WASHINGTONBoeing announced that it delivered 32 aircraft in January. The American planemaker handed over 27 737 MAX jets in January and three widebody aircraft, including a 777 freighter.

27 737 MAXs were delivered to the Irish low-cost operator Ryanair. The 777 freighter joined China Eastern Airlines' cargo fleet. The company had delivered 26 aircraft in the same period a year ago.

Resuming 787 Dreamliner deliveries is crucial for Boeing to recover from the pandemic and catch up with the European rival Airbus. Hindrances in Dreamliner production cost Boeing $4.5 billion in charges in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The manufacturer registered 77 orders in January, including for 55 MAX airplanes and 22 freighters. Boeing aims to ramp up freighter production as demand grows for air cargo transport.
