FORT WORTH, TEXAS — American Airlines is planning to trim its overseas flights next summer due to the Boeing 787 delivery delays.



A new type of defect on Boeing’s Dreamliner aircraft surfaced recently, the latest in a series of issues that have led to a halt in deliveries.

A schedule cut by the world’s largest carrier by passenger traffic is the latest sign of broader fallout for Boeing’s prolonged Dreamliner production problems that have largely prevented it from handing over the popular wide-body jets to airlines for more than a year.

Boeing currently has more than $25 billion of jets in its inventory.
