STOCKHOLMSwedish MRO company TAM completed the cargo conversion of an additional Saab 340B turboprop (ES-NSD, MSN 171). The aircraft was delivered to the Estonian carrier Nyx Air on March 10, a regional airline with a vast fleet of Saab 340/2000 and ATR 72s, including Saab 340s in full cargo configuration.

With a firm experience from converting more than a dozen Saab 340s, the TAM cargo conversions meet an increased market interest, with ES-NSD being the second aircraft delivered from TAM’s Örebro workshops in 2021.

  • We are pleased to see an increasing interest in general for our cargo conversions, with the Saab 340 being the perfect feeder platform for express cargo carriers as well as other short-haul cargo operators, says Pär Gulle, TAM Managing Director.
  • I am glad to say that we have all reason to expect to deliver 6-8 cargo converted Saab 340s in 2021, up from earlier predicted 4-6 conversions, Pär Gulle states.
  • In general, the current portfolio of services offered by TAM – maintenance and overhaul of Saab 340 and Saab 2000, complemented in 2020 with the ATR72 family, extensive rebuilds, modifications, and cargo conversions of Saab 340s – continue to prove to be the right concept for us, Pär Gulle summarizes.
