JAKARTAIndonesia's flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will add Airbus A330-800 to its fleet. An order for four of the long-haul widebody aircraft appears to have been quietly added to the Airbus' order book at the beginning of this year.

Garuda already signed a letter of intent for the purchase in 2019. The A330-800 is the smaller variant of the A330neo. A330neo is the revamped successor of the European planemaker's best-selling A330 family.

Garuda Indonesia previously ordered fourteen larger A330-900. Three of them have already been delivered to the Indonesian airline so far.

With a total of fifteen orders globally, the A330-800 is not very popular yet. Only Kuwait Airways (8), Uganda Airlines (2), and Air Greenland (1) have ordered the type to date.
