SEATTLE — The expected Ryanair 737 MAX order has been officially confirmed today. The budget carrier finalized options for 75 Boeing 737 MAX jets from a previous order. The deal threw a commercial lifeline to the troubled aircraft program after 20-month of grounding.

Ryanair already has 135 of the 197-seat MAX 200 on order, which is built exclusively for Ryanair. The airline expects to take delivery of its first jet earlier in 2021.

Ryanair did not disclose the price it will pay, but it obviously includes discounts above 50% of catalog prices. Ryanair was expected to win an even bigger discount of well over two-thirds in return for a headline-grabbing relaunch of the MAX that helps fill gaps left by cancellations, sources said.#
