MOSCOWRussian aircraft manufacturer United Aircraft’s (UAC) revamped regional passenger turboprop Ilyushin Il-114-300 conducted its first flight.

The twin-engined plane took off from Moscow’s Zhukovsky airport on Dec. 16 with three crew members on board, two pilots, and a flight-test engineer.

The model is an upgraded version of the older Il-114 airframe with new engines and an updated digital cockpit, enabling landing operations down to Category II.

The crew examined the performance of the Klimov TV7-117ST-01 engines, as well as basic aircraft stability and controllability.

It is designed to autonomously operate during the harsh winter conditions of Siberia, and northern and eastern Russia. United Aircraft aims to obtain airworthiness certification of the aircraft in 2022 and start deliveries to its clients from 2023.
