DUBAIGulf carrier Emirates has taken delivery of its 116th Airbus A380 jumbojet. The aircraft is the first of three A380s to join the airline's fleet in 2020.
The plane arrived in Dubai on Dec. 5. Emirates is set to add two more A380 aircraft before year-end. One of these planes will be equipped with the airline's long-awaited Premium cabin.

Emirates is by far the largest A380 operator in the world. The type entered into service with the carrier 12 years ago.

Airbus ended the production of A380s in 2019 due to the lack of demand. Emirates is the last customer of the European planemaker for this type. The manufacturer will deliver seven more jumbojets to Emirates and then remove the aircraft's production line permanently.#
