Phoenix, Arizona, US, - Phoenix-based regional operator Mesa Airlines announced that it has postponed the launch of operations with Embraer E175s on behalf of United Airlines.

The 20 new Embraer E175 jets for United Airlines were supposed to begin operations for United in May 2020, but they were delayed until late 2020 and early 2021. The 20 CRJ700 jets that were planned to leave the fleet will stay in service with United until the new E175s are delivered. Following the transfer to another United Express operator, the twenty CRJ700s will be reconfigured into 50-seater CRJ550s.

"We will clearly stand ready to continue to operate those aircraft in any configuration United wants,"

Mesa Chief Executive Jonathan Ornstein said.

Mesa Airlines currently operates sixty E175s and twenty CRJ700s for United.  The airline also operates sixty-three CRJ900s for American Airlines.
