Bucharest, Romania - An Antonov An-124 cargo aircraft brought medical supplies to Romania from China.

The Antonov An-124 is one of the largest cargo planes in the world. It is generally used to transport heavy cargo such as locomotives, or aircraft fuselage. The aircraft has a load capacity of up to 150 tonnes.

"It is the largest medical cargo flight, with medical supplies purchased from China; it is the first such flight on this plane in Europe,"

 Adrian Ionel said, the director of state-owned distributor Unifarm.

Additional medical supplies will be transported to Romania with 12 more flights in the coming days, including will bring medical supplies to Romania this month: protective masks, protective visors, protective suits, ventilators, and reagents.

Three Boeing 747 freighters are expected to arrive in Bucharest on April 9, 20 and 27. On April 14, another Antonov An-124 will land in Bucharest from Zhengzhou, China. On April 15, one more Boeing 747 from Silkway West Airlines will bring supplies to the country.

"These are not the only shipments coming in, there are others arriving by land, from other areas, such as the Netherlands, Austria. The goods that will come in are for at least two months and a half from this moment," 

Adrian Ionel said.
