Paris, France - On April 11th, an Air France Airbus A330-200 was hit by a bullet fired by a police officer at the Point Noire and Bangui Airport. The police officer was on duty at the airport brigade during the incident.

According to witnesses, two shots were heard. One of the bullets penetrated the fuselage from a very prominent point, while the other bullet missed the aircraft.

The aircraft was planned to perform a repatriation flight on April 12 for Europeans stranded in the Central African Republic.

The Police officer who intentionally aimed his gun at the aircraft and fired it has been arrested. Local authorities have launched an investigation. The motivation behind the assault remains unknown.

Air France has filed a complaint about the damage. The evacuation flight was carried out today after a replacement aircraft arrived in Point Noire and Bangui.
